A Claire McCardell Dress Revealed

So do you remember my post about this fabulous, but mysterious gown? It's here if not. Well, I put a picture of it on Instagram recently and was informed by Chelsea of Female Hysteria Vintage on Etsy, that it's actually a Claire McCardell! So thank you Chelsea! If you're not familiar with Claire McCardell you can learn more about her here. Apparently it's a rare skirt set that was featured in the December 1952 issue of Vogue. The set is a print designed by Claire herself and called 'Alameda' It is from a line of fabrics by Everfast cotton called Panagra. The print was also used for a promotion with Panagra South American Airlines. You can read more about it here. And a similar version is even part of the MET collection, show below, which you can also see here and here. I'm so thrilled to have a Claire McCardell since it's been on my vintage owning bucket list. Don't worry, it's still for sale, if you are a McCardell fan, you can view and purchase HERE! Enjoy!
